This is the XJ-S launch press pack. Five sections – Introduction, XJ-S in detail. Design & Development. Sales & Marketing and Photographs. Eight press releases, all embargoed to 10 September 1975, as is the pack itself. Unusually, all the mono photos are present. A rare pack, containing a uniquely comprehensive account of the XJ-S. I seldom see more than one a year, if that. Fine.

Press release on JaguarSport, on the car generally and the mechanicals – majoring on the sharply up-rated 6 litre V12 engine, the specs and prices. Plus 2 photos. For my money, the 6 litre XJR-S is the best iteration of the XJS. Also includes 6-page JaguarSport folder – “Performance Parts” for XJR-S. Both Fine.

All contained in the correct JaguarSport white card folder. Pack – VG. Contents – Fine. Very rarely seen as complete as this and in this condition.
A dealers’ pack with marketing guidance and material dated 16 April 1987.
A rare and detailed insight into the trade in action! 12 full-colour single-page sample ads. Three double-spread sample ads. Three small mono ads. One sample 4-page direct mailing leaflet “Step out of the Shadows” – with order form. 4-page Jaguar Contact booklet “Mastering the XJS Market”. Only the third pack like this I have seen and none of the others were as comprehensive. Fine.
Jaguar press pack for the UK launch of the XJS Convertible.
Embargoed to 27 April 1988. 15 pages of press releases, detailed spec sheet, three mono photos. Plus, one copy of the Jaguar Salesmen’s report for 1988 that featured the convertible. Comprehensive. Sl RS on some releases o/w VG nr Fine.

First – “Presenting the Superb Jaguar XJ-S”. 4-page card brochure. Pub ref – 200m 2/77. Second – “Presenting the Superb Jaguar S-type”. A small 4-page paper sister leaflet but note that the car is called “Jaguar S-Type”. A brief reminder that in at least one part of the world, there have been three Jaguar S-Types! Both Fine and rare as a pair.

“XJS 4.0 Coupe & Convertible”.
12-page brochure for the XJS powered by the AJ16 6-cylinder engine. Very comprehensive details at back – Standard and Optional Equipment. Specs for both cars. Dimensions. Exterior paints and interior trim, etc. Fine.
“The XJRS V12 Celebration Coupe”.
4-page card folder. 11.5 x 8.5. This car was produced to celebrate Jaguar’s winning the World Sportscar Championship in 1987 and Le Mans in 1988. Only 100 examples of this rare car were created. Not many brochures were produced either. Fine. Rare.

Pub ref SPM 1001. 20-page brochure for the two models. Superb, dramatic photography. Also includes two JaguarSport parts price lists – Sep 1989 and Aug 1990. Both cover XJR-S and Celebration model (see above). All Fine.

In the words of the Intro – “Brings together all known methods of dealing with leakage problems which have occurred with the XJS Convertible in the past”. Even if you haven’t suffered yet, best have this booklet on the shelf against the day! Covers rubbed. Internally VG.

Second US market book. Now boosted to 59 pages covering similar ground but in more depth. Fine.
“XJ-S 3.6 XJ-SC 3.6” – A Technical Synopsis for Jaguar service staff.
“The Book of the Jaguar XJ-S” by Brian Long.
Veloce. 2000. 160pp. At one time, Brian was a Jaguar man working in the Training Department. He was commissioned by Veloce to write this book, which is based on many interviews with staff and others and well as on-line research and much devilling in Jaguar’s own archives. In my opinion, this is the best book on the XJ-S currently available. Fine.
A superb 12-page concertina folder from Jaguar’s German operation.
Opens out from 8 x 11.5 to a huge 8 x 41 and features an XJS on one side and a XJ Series 3 XJ on the other – both in that wonderful dark green that Jaguar offered in those days. Rare and very impressive! Fine.
Sterling silver JaguarSport key fob and pouch housed in a superb glove-leather case with “XJ220” embossed in the lid.
These presentation pieces were created for the 1991 launch of the production XJ220 in Tokyo (see Lot 434 below). Signed underneath by Keith Helfet, a member of the Saturday Club that created the prototype XJ220 and who was lead designer for the exterior of the production car. Rare. Mint.

Comprehensive – ranging from car covers to luggage, literature to seat belt harnesses and foot pump to air jack. Includes a photocopied price list. Another rarity, especially together with the Lot above. Fine. Very rare.
XJ220 Owner’s Handbook.
Sections include: Introduction; Instruments; In-car Facilities; Driving; Vehicle Care and Servicing; and one section of Specs. This is a rare book and in demand. The cars change hands regularly and the documentation does not always travel with the cars, so new owners are often in the market for the documentation. Corners sl bumped o/w Fine.

Contents are 4 Jaguar press releases, including driver bios and a detailed spec of the XJ220C. Also 2-page press release from Unipart, the principal sponsor. RS. Two mono images of XJ220C car no 50 and one of the 1953 winning C-Type. Seldom seen with such comprehensive contents. Fine. Historic.

16-page booklet with silvery cover. Contains a very unusual selection of photographs of the development of the XJ220 bodywork, part of which was handled by Descartes – some of them I have not seen before. Fine. Rare.

A 4-page card fldr from Park Sheet Metal, outlining their involvement in the XJ220 Project and identifying the components they produced. Unusual. Fine.

XJ220 calendar.
The official Jaguar factory calendar for 1992. Very dramatic, full-page shots of this most photogenic of cars. Unopened and still in its original box. Mint.
Two collections of XJ220 photos.
One is exclusively of competition cars, incl three of Le Mans car No 51 signed by Win Percy. Colour and mono. The other is of production cars, including one of crash-testing – ouch! 21 in all, including duplicates. VG and Fine.
“Jaguar Makes Public Debut in Tokyo Today”.
An elegantly embossed thick card press pack containing a 5-page press release embargoed to Wednesday 23rd October 1991 and a mono photo of the car. It is sometimes forgotten that the car unveiled at the hugely successful Birmingham launch in 1988 (see above) was the V12-powered concept car. The V6-powered production car was actually unveiled to the public at the Tokyo show in 1991, three years later. This is the press pack for that launch. Fine.

“Jaguar 220 – The Inside Story” by Mike Moreton, the XJ220 Project Leader.
This book is Mike’s own copy and is accompanied by an extensive portfolio of Mike’s notes, photos, sketches and diagrams that he drew on while drafting the book. These include – JaguarSport press release, Wykham Mill site layout, production line flow, organisation chart, correspondence with publishers, many photos annotated in Mike’s own hand for locating in the book, over 80 x 35mm slides and much more. A short-sleeve XJ220 poplin shirt as worn by staff of the Jaguar (not TWR) hospitality operation supporting the 1993 Le Mans entry.
“XJ220 Le Mans” logo on left breast and a larger version of the logo, plus the leaper on the back. Maker is “Premier”. Size is 17”/43 cm. This is a rare item and the first I have seen. Fresh, clean and in Fine condition.

A “Stand 21” Refueller pit crew suit from the Silk Cut era.
These suits are the scarcest of the pit crew suits and this one has the added attraction of featuring four purple squares instead of the Silk Cut brand. These were worn in countries that had a ban on tobacco advertising. Shows sl wear. Good to VG.

A magnificent presentation piece from Jaguar.
The four key 1:18-scale Jaguar models from AutoArt – C-type, D-type, XKSS and XJ13 – are mounted on a superb, bevelled wood base. This was crafted in the Jaguar sawmill at Browns Lane and veneered as only the Jaguar craftsmen know how! Fine nr Mint. Unique.
An official Jaguar presentation set of six Coalport coffee cups and saucers.
The china is Coalport’s “Camelot” design and uniquely each item has two leaping Jaguars face-to-face under the glaze on the base. Contained in a strong, dark blue cardboard box that features a metallic paper growler from the Mark 10 brochure. China – Fine and appears unused. Box – VG.

A cigarette case as presented to selected members of Jaguar staff at Christmas in the 1950s.
Includes card – “With Every Good Wish for Christmas & The New Year.” Unusually, the case is still in its original silk-lined presentation box with the winged Jaguar logo. Fine.
